Old Growler pint

An algorithm;
Glass empty? Yes, then refill,
No, then drink. Repeat.

Name: Old Growler
Type: dark beer
Venue: Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford

Review/notes: The haiku is in honour of Ada Lovelace who, on this day in 1842, wrote the first computer algorithm so that Charles Babbage’s “Analytical Engine” wouldn’t just be another of his useless inventions cluttering up the living room.  (She was also the daughter of Lord Byron.)

A programming work mate pointed out that there was no exit to this loop; after I tilted my head wordlessly to a slight angle he said, “oh…right.”

Old Growler, by the way, was Babbage’s pet name for her downstairs lady parts.

And, there you have it.  This more than anything is why I am drinking alone. Again.
