A homemade pizza
Has culinary pitfalls
But can be sublime.

Name: Montes Cabernet Sauvignon
Type: red wine
Venue: house

Review/notes: I made some sausage Friday from a pork loin, some pancetta, a little fennel, parsley, oregano, garlic, onions (white and spring), cayenne, sea salt and a splash of red wine.  Some of that became a topping on a freshly prepared pizza crust layered with homemade tomato sauce, some rubbery aged provolone, wild mushrooms, black olives and red bell peppers.  When it is good it is unbeatable; this was one of the good ones.
