Hook Norton Double Stout

 

Black, dark like my soul.
This stout and Lars von Trier’s
Dancer in the Dark.

Name: Hook Norton Double Stout
Type: stout
Recipe: Take a top side roast overcooked till dry and cut into bite sized cubes.  Cook till re-moistened in stock with a caramelized onion then mix with some sliced brown mushrooms and blanched broccoli, chopping in some cilantro/coriander and red bell pepper.  Crumble in some stinky bleu cheese and fold into some puff pastry, sealing to make pasties.  Bake at 200°C until golden brown (brush with a little butter just before they are finished).  Yum.
Venue: house

Review/notes:  Deep colour and deeper flavour.  A new favourite stout.

Watched ‘Dancer in the Dark,’ which is a bit surreal but lighter than, say ‘Breaking the Waves.’  Von Trier is very disturbing.
