Baker’s Arms, Badbury, Wiltshire, Chippy Challenge #48   3 comments

fish and chips Baker's Arms Badbury

[The Chippy Challenge: to eat more fish and chips in 2014; see original post for details.]

Fish: cod
Sides: chips and mushy peas
Evaluation: Just out for a trot looking for a hash trail I came over all peckish and new that the Baker’s has a reputation for the best fish and chips in the south.  You can usually doubt that claim from a pub (having been screwed by several claiming such in Oxford, notably the White Horse and the Bird and Baby), but this was one of the two or three best plates of food I’ve had all year–and not including just the fish and chips challenge.  Worth a trip out of your way to give it a try, and the pub is always one of the friendliest in the region.
Days since last: 3 (Rose Hill Fish and Chips, Cowley)

It was a cold and muddy run, and on part of the trail I found a hill paved with old, marble headstone fragments, like this one:

Monthly consolidations/compilations: January
