Finca Las Moras Syrah

Though often dated…
“When in Rome do as Romans do.”
Phil Ochs knocks me out.

Name: Finca Las Moras Syrah
Type: red wine
Venue: house

Review/notes: The wine was surprisingly good, more complex than the price tag hinted, dark purple to almost black like a really dreadful bruise, and fuller than a typical shiraz [syrah] with a mouth more like a decent merlot.

Jackie’s retail gig ends in a week and to mourn the loss of coinage we cracked open a few old CDs I transferred from old cassette tapes originally recorded from WREK and WRFG broadcasts in Atlanta.  Hit a Phil Ochs set that included the full 13 minute version of When in Rome on a show called What The Folk (guessing the tape was made around 1987 or so).  Most good Ochs songs require a serious grounding in politics and culture of 1960’s America but this one is good and disturbing even without Cliffs Notes.
