That Venn diagram intersection of runners AND drinkers shrank by one a couple of weeks ago, but it was a special one.  An Olympian in multiple events with a thirst worthy of the Titans, Andy Holden passed on January 4.  You can find many serious obits and heartfelt tributes by Googling him but the obit in the Telegraph is probably of most interest to anyone reading this blog (excerpt: “At his peak, he achieved an ambition to run 100 miles and drink 100 pints in a single week”).

Tonight’s Daily Tipple, mid-run, will be dedicated to him.
