The Brothers Kebab House, Swindon (kpw* bonus kebab)   2 comments

[*kpw = kebab per week for 2013, as noted in an earlier post and the 28th entry for the 2013 Challenge–extra one this week because I have no self control]

The Brothers Kebab House Swindon kebab

An hour running on and around Port Meadow near Oxford looking for the 750th OH3 trail came to nought (as it turned out, they renumbered it to the 751st, flaunting ordinal propriety).  It had been warm all day for a change and though the skies clouded over it was still quite pleasant and the humidity reminded me of home.  The heat and sweat eased the dual disappointments of the non-trail and the fact that both Ali’s and Hussain’s kebab vans don’t even set up until 6:30…I changed to dry clothing and caught the 6:45 back to Swindon, hungry.

I must have been truly hungry the way I wolfed down the foul, rubbery döner that made up the meat-esque portion of the kebab I picked up at Brothers.  More packing material than sustenance, pieces weren’t even slices off the roll but more like grey squared-off cylinders.

The sauce was good and they had properly spicy jalapeño slices but the tomatoes were gelatinous.  As you can see, I didn’t risk any of the other salad; this was because the the lettuce was limp to decomposing and brown at the edges, the cabbage looked even older, and though the onions looked fresh on top you could spot some limp slimy ones a layer down.

Worst kebab of the year (so far…we are a week short of the midpoint)
