Victoria Arms, Marston, Oxon   3 comments

[Administrative note: I only had a half pint of JHB, as it wasn’t my shout and we had to catch up to the rest of the pack.  However, this seems an ideal place to make a lunchtime run so I’ll get the other half within the week, I promise.]

Tipped off that there would be a pub stop on this hash, we ran armed with cash.  The trail went right past (but not to) the Victoria Arms (follow link for better photos on pub’s website) but it would be downright rude not to go in having soiled the car park.  FBJ, who has a reputation for sniffing out the slightly-off-trail pubs, joined me and we had a nice chat while looking around the house.

This is a fairly large pub and while there were a number of other customers they had diffused to the far reaches.  I was surprised no one was taking advantage of the fire on this nippy evening, but those are the breaks.  Down its own driveway a few hundred meters off the main street the pub is actually a bit more convenient to approach by foot along the public footpaths by the River Cherwell.
